I discovered a delicious ‘raw’ nutella slice at a cafe across the road from my little boy’s swimming lessons. So guess where we go every week after swimming?
Yep. I love me some of that nutella slice. And the thing is – it is laden with goodness knows what, a pile of chocolate, coconut and fat I’m guessing. It’s so filling!
Years ago I would have gone home and just eaten my lunch after that slice, even though I felt full. Why? Because it was lunch time. Lunch time meant I must eat.
But since I’ve become an intuitive eater I’ve learnt to listen to my body rather than watch the clock.
I don’t eat by the clock. I eat by my body. And after that slice my body tells me its full and we don’t need to eat for many hours.
So instead I eat my lunch at about 3pm when my older son comes home from school. He has his afternoon snack, and I sit with him and eat my late-lunch.
Why am I telling you this? Because this is the secret to that age old question: “How can she eat cake and not put on weight?”
It’s most likely not because she has a fast metabolism (although her metabolism will be faster if she’s never dieted).
It’s probably not because she’s naturally slim (although genes do influence our body size). Nope.
It’s more than likely she’s an ‘intuitive eater’. In other words, she…
- Gives herself unconditional permission to eat when hungry and what food is desired
- Eats for physical rather than emotional reasons
- Relies on her internal hunger and satiety cues to determine when and how much to eat
Please know that it’s never too late to RECONNECT with your intuition again and become an intuitive eater! You can enjoy cake again and still be a healthy eater – without guilt.
P.S. I’ve got a FREE video workshop series coming up this week – The Pathway To Happy + Healthy Eating. ClICK HERE to register for these FREE lessons. And remember – I’ve got some more fun coming on Friday 21st September – put it in your diary!
