Nutritionists aren’t perfect. Including me. I know… shocking right?
My journey from food-horrors to food-happiness has been quite spectacular (if I do say so myself, ahem).
At my lowest point I would binge on sugary foods, hide chocolate wrappers in rubbish bins, put food in the freezer to stop myself eating it, throw food in the rubbish to stop myself eating it – only to go and get it back out and eat it (okay, in my defence the lollies were INSIDE a packet).
You can hear me talking openly and honestly about it in this FACEBOOK LIVE video – CLICK HERE.
Pretty embarrassing right? I’m not proud of it.
I’m sharing this because I want you to know that whatever the issues you have with healthy eating, trust me – I can relate to you.
I’ve been there, got the t-shirt and made it out safely.
I might have written a nutrition column for the NZ Listener magazine for 10+ years.
But I am SOO not perfect. I carry scars. Just not scars that you can see.
I have learnt. I have changed. And while changing my mindset and then retraining as a nutritionist obviously had a lot to do with that, it wasn’t all that caused the change.
The real difference for me has been discovering INTUITIVE EATING.
INTUITIVE EATING is the foundation for a truly happy and healthy relationship for food.
INTUITIVE EATING is something you’re going to hear a LOT more about in coming years as scientists and public health professionals realise that dieting is a load of bollocks (technical term, yes).
#fact – dieting and healthy eating rules cause more harm than good.
INTUITIVE EATING is simply learning how to eat normally again.
How to ignore all the stupid food messages out there.
To reconnect with, and trust, your body.
And to find joy in food again.
INTUITIVE EATING is changing people’s lives for the better. I kid you not.
It gives you so much more than a diet ever could.
P.S. Oh and yes, I’ll explain more about how intuitive eating works and how it is changing people’s lives (just like yours) in the coming weeks.
